About LGBT+ Young People

Many people know they are, or think they might be, gay, lesbian, bisexual, or trans, when they are young and this can be great but it can also be scary. It may be hard to know who you can talk to and how people will react.

The good news is that we’re here to listen in confidence and without judgment every day of the week, and there’s lots of other supports available, if, and when you need them.

There are lots of LGBT youth groups around the country, where you can meet with people your age who are LGBT or questioning.  To find a youth group near you click here.

There is also an organisation called BeLonG To, that works specifically with young LGBT people in Ireland and they have lots of great information and campaigns to check out on www.belongto.org

If you need to talk right now, and we’re not available, Childline are always open, and you can phone 1800 66 66 66 or chat online with their trained volunteers at www.childline.ie.

You can also freephone the Samaritans on 116-123 who are available 24/7 and 365 days a year. Visit their website at www.samaritans.org.
