LGBT Ireland marks World Refugee Day with Animation Launch and Webinar

On Monday 21st June LGBT Ireland held a lunchtime webinar and animation launch representing the mental health challenges faced by LGBT+ people living in Direct Provision. Made by Is Rainbow Muid members, LGBT Ireland’s peer support group for LGBT+ people seeking international protection.

LGBT Ireland and Is Rainbow Muid members have 3 asks:

  1. We ask for the speedy and thorough implementation of the governments White Paper to end Direct Provision.
  2. We ask that all DP centres have and implement a zero tolerance policy on homophobic and transphobic verbal and physical abuse.
  3. We ask that appropriate mental health services for the complex needs of LGBT+ asylum seekers living in Direct Provision are made available urgently across the country.
