As part of the part of the #BeYourself campaign not only do we highlight individuals that proudly encourage others to be themselves but also we have highlighted groups, clubs and organisations that enable us as a community to be ourselves, build friendships with our peers and build upon our amazing LGBT community.
Pink Ladies are an awesome women’s hockey team based in Dublin. Over 60 women have worn the hallowed Pink Ladies jersey to date – from ex-Irish internationals to total beginners and everything in between, this brilliantly diverse group of women share a mutual passion for hockey AND fun!
About Pink Ladies Hockey Club:
Pink Ladies was founded in 2011 by the amazing Etain Kidney and went from being a few friends hitting a ball around to being the beautiful thing it is now – travelling to tournaments in Berlin and Stockholm and playing in the Eurogames to name but a few highlights.
The club also takes pride in the level of coaching that we offer, and we ensure that everyone leaves just a little better and more confident in their skills than when they arrived. We are a social summer team, and the main goal is heading off to international LGBT competitions at the end of the summer. This year is a trip to Amsterdam from August 9th – 13st (This trip is, of course, optional).
Is it for me?
First and foremost, there is a strong focus on working together and helping each other out and it’s a truly encouraging environment and everyone supports and helps each other out, regardless of the skill levels. We have a very varied range of players from total novices to former Irish internationals. The emphasis of the club is on a brilliant group of women having fun together.
