LGBT Ireland is pleased to announce the appointment of Anne Byrne as its new Chief Executive Officer. Anne succeeds outgoing CEO Paula Fagan, who has led and significantly grown the organisation over the past 13 years. The Board of LGBT Ireland extends its sincere gratitude to Paula for her outstanding leadership and unwavering commitment over more than a decade of service.

Anne is an experienced, strategic, and people-focused leader with a strong track record in the not-for-profit sector. She joins LGBT Ireland following nearly five years as Director of People, Strategy and Innovation at the Irish Cancer Society. Prior to that, she built a successful career in management consulting with Deloitte, having begun her professional journey in industrial relations.

Anne holds a degree in Business and Political Science, as well as a postgraduate diploma in Conflict and Dispute Resolution, both from Trinity College Dublin.

Anne is a long-standing and active volunteer with LGBT Ireland and has seen first-hand the life-changing impact of the organisation’s work and brings a strong understanding of the diverse experiences and needs of LGBTQI+ people across Ireland. Her appointment reflects not only her professional expertise but also her deep personal commitment to the mission of LGBT Ireland and the communities it serves.

An out and proud member of the LGBTQI+ community, Anne is happily married to her wife, Kate. Anne lives now in Dublin, having grown up in Kildare.

We are thrilled to welcome Anne into this leadership role and look forward to the passion, insight, and vision she brings as CEO.
