Even today, members of the LGBTI+ community can still suffer from stigma. They often feel as though they have nobody to talk to in times of need. This isolation can be experienced at any age. But, people over 50+ may need particular support.

In recent months, LGBT Ireland has been working on a Telefriending Service for community members over 50+ and we are now ready to receive referrals from LGBTI+ community members. By the middle of next month, we will begin a recruitment drive for telefriending volunteers to support our work.

The LGBT Telefriending webpage is now up and running. Anyone wanting to avail of the Telefriending Service or wishing to volunteer will find an online form on the website here: www.lgbt.ie/telefriending.

As always, the National LGBT Helpline is available on freephone 1800 929 539 operating Monday-Thursday 6.30pm-10pm and Saturday & Sunday 4-6pm.
